Authorities in Pennsylvania were recently dispatched to the scene of a fatal truck accident. According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred when the driver of a SUV allegedly lost control of their vehicle. This resulted in the SUV colliding with a tractor-trailer, which caused the truck to strike a barrier and guardrail before landing on its side and sliding down a slope next to the interstate. The incident closed the interstate where the accident occurred for several hours. The driver of the SUV was injured in the crash and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, the driver of the truck died at the scene of the accident.
When a driver is negligent and causes an accident, they may be liable for the resulting injuries, deaths and damages. The loved ones of the deceased may file a wrongful death claim. This could be used to seek compensation that would be used towards expenses that resulted from the accident such as funeral costs, lost wages and damages.
A fatal crash is often a difficult event to cope with. Loved ones often have to deal with bills piling up from the crash, so understanding if they have a cause of action to alleviate the financial burdens is important.
