Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling 550,000 vehicles worldwide due to an auto defect that could make the vehicle hard to steer. The rings in the vehicle’s crankshaft can become misaligned causing a noise and a warning light to appear on the dashboard. If the problem isn’t correct the belt for the power steering pump can become dethatched which will cause the drive to lose power steering.
Almost 450,000 vehicles in North America were named in the recall. Owners of recalled vehicles will receive a notification to visit their local Toyota dealer to have the problem corrected. If there is currently a warning light or strange noise when you steer please visit your deal immediately.
