Pennsylvania company conducting study on brain injury

The brain controls just about every important function of the body and when it is injured, it can have life altering changes for the person. A victim of a traumatic brain injury in Philadelphia can struggle for months or years and sadly, there are not many options out there other than therapy to address the damage that has been done. In extreme instances, it may require long-term care for the person as they are left unable to do things for themselves.

However, a new brain injury study will be funded by the U.S. Army. The study, offered by a Pennsylvanian company known as QR Pharma, will be used to test a substance known as Posiphen, on mice. It is unknown what healing ability that researchers believe the substance has that could help victims with traumatic brain injury, but the U.S. Army has been active in supporting efforts in this medical field and gave the researchers a $3 million grant for the study to be conducted.

There is no information as to what the next step will be if the study is successful. Researchers are looking at Posiphen as a potential treatment for people with brain injury, which has gathered a lot of attention lately.

While the possibility of using the substance as a brain injury treatment is still a ways off, it does provide families and victims with hope that someday a treatment can be found that is proven to diminish or even reverse the effects of an injury to the brain. When a person is injured because of the negligence of another person or a company, the medical expenses can be overwhelming. It may be in their best interest to seek the help of an experienced attorney.
