Michelin Recalls Tires due to Dangerous Defect

Michelin North America, Inc., is recalling certain Michelin LTX M/S tires, size LT225/75R16 115/112R LRE, manufactured from January 10, 2010, through June 23, 2012 due to a defect that could lead to tread separation. The tires were supplied for use as original equipment on Ford vehicles and as replacement equipment on light trucks, full-sized heavy duty vans, smalls RVs and large pickup trucks.

Tire tread separation occurs when the tire tread separates from the tire itself. This defect can lead to tire blowouts and rollover accidents, as the vehicle is forced sharply to one side after the tire blows out.

Michelin will notify owners and qualified Michelin dealers will replace the defective tires free of charge. The recall will begin January 2014.
