Auto Recall Alert: Could the Engine in Your Ford Catch Fire?

Could your Ford catch fire or have its door swing open while you are driving? USA Today recently posted an article concerning two separate Ford auto recalls involving cars and trucks that can catch fire and have their doors swing open while the vehicle is moving. Both issues are extremely troubling, because they can lead to drivers and/or passengers suffering catastrophic injury, such as a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or spinal cord injury, or dying. The issue with the door opening unexpectedly is part of an earlier recall. Reportedly, a tab in the door latch can break, which enables the door to open while driving. The problem with Fords catching fire is new. Per the USA Today report, engines in certain Fords can overheat due to a coolant circulation issue that can lead to the cylinder head cracking, causing an oil leak that can result in an engine fire.
