The son of a woman who was killed in an apartment building fire filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of his late mother.
The Allegations
Mary Blisss son, Michael Macera, has filed a suit against Woodlark Properties, Woodlark Enterprises, the owners of his mothers building and the building manager.
Bliss was 69 when she died in the fire that ignited throughout her building, killing nine other tenants and severely injuring others.
The fire occurred on January 13, 2007 and according to court documents, spread rapidly throughout the building exposing Bliss and her neighbors to large amounts of smoke and toxic gases.
Macera claims that the building did not have sprinkles, which is not in accordance with the federal, state, and local safety codes.
Fire Aftermath
Macera says that as a result of the fire and his mothers sudden death, him and his brother, Steven, have been put through immense mental anguish and sorrow.
They hope to be compensated for the treatment of Bliss and the funeral costs.
