A woman has filed a lawsuit against her previous sports medicine doctor who she claims failed to properly treat her.
The doctor is a partial owner of a professional hockey team and is being accused of performing unnecessary surgery on his patient.
The Accusations
Susan Presswood was a patient of Dr. Richard Lehman when she injured her right shoulder.
Presswood claims Lehman failed to prescribe her non-operative treatments for her torn rotator cuff.
She also says Dr. Lehman committed a surgical error, misusing a metal shaver during her 2006 surgery and later performed an unnecessary arthogram.
Suit Filed
The lawsuit filed by Presswood names both Dr. Lehman and her chiropractor Mark Eavenson.
According to Presswood, Eavenson failed to notice the condition of her shoulder was not improving after several years of therapy.
The two doctors also have a business relationship where they refer patients to one another.
“Eavenson waited too long to refer Susan Presswood to an adequate medical specialist, in light of her continued pain after her surgery,” says the complaint.
