Mattel recently issued a major recall of many of its toys for the third time this summer.
A warning was issued with the news of the recall informing parents to be cautious of toys made in China after findings of high lead content were found in them.
Major Recall
Over 773, 900 toys have been recalled, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
After studies and research were conducted, Mattel found that many of the toy's that were made in China contained uncertified paint that was lead based.
675,000 of these toys are reportedly Barbie accessories.
Most of the products were sold to consumers from September 2006 to July 2007.
Dangers of Lead
Lead poisoning is said to cause behavioral and developmental problems in children.
“Because lead is cumulative, you want to remove it from a child's environment each and every time you can,” explains Julie Vallese, a spokeswoman for the CPSC.
Chinese Contractors Blamed for Problems
Mattel issued a statement blaming Chinese contractors for the lead based paint that is on the toys.
According to statistics, 65 percent of Mattel's toys are made in China.
